Welcome to the world of
Design, development and deployment of a cost-effective mobile Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC) for third world countries
BACKGROUND AND MOTIVATION
The challenges in delivering healthcare to the “everyone”, including the socially disadvantaged, the economically challenged, and the systemically marginalized? What keeps us from reaching the “everywhere,” which must consist of the remote areas in our Himalayan region, for instance, where until recently, essentials were airlifted by air force helicopters? (National Geographic News) The answers to the above questions can be addressed by a framework proposed by Arvind Kasthuri as five A’s, namely – Awareness or the lack of it, Access or the lack of it, Absence or the lack of it, Affordability or the cost of healthcare and Accountability or the lack of it (Kasthuri A., 2018). This research is intended to impact all the five A’s and their dimensions through an innovative design solution.
